In a 2017 series of stories for HLN’s Crime & Justice with Ashleigh Banfield, we looked at the heroin epidemic in America through the lens of three distinct characters in Huntington, West Virginia. A team of EMT’s and first responders, a grandmother raising a newborn addicted, and an addict learning to be a mother for the first time.
HLN Behind Bars
In 2013, HLN went behind bars at the notorious Estrella Women’s Jail, known for it’s harsh conditions and hardened inmates. We spent three days inside with inmates for a two hour prime-time documentary special, learning about the day to day life under the eye of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and the mindset of those preparing to serve long prison sentences.
The Search for the Southern Sound
In 2016, in conjunction with Atlanta-based Mixed Bag Media, I produced a pilot for a series about musicians, culture, music and the influence of the south on all three. Hosted by musician and songwriter Jeff Mosier, this is the pilot episode with Jeff’s longtime friend and musical mentor, Col. Bruce Hampton, 16 months before his passing.
